Flight Verification Test of the Confined Space Inspection Drone IBIS2 Conducted at CARRIER PARK

News

We are pleased to announce that Hamamatsu Boeki Co., Ltd. conducted a flight verification test and promotional filming session for the confined space inspection drone IBIS2 at “CARRIER PARK,” our permanent exhibition facility located inside our factory.

The IBIS2 used in this test is an ultra-compact inspection drone developed by Liberaware for inspection in extremely confined spaces.

Despite its compact body measuring approximately 20 cm in length, the drone is equipped with a high-sensitivity camera and LED lights, anabling stable flight even in environments where GPS signals are unavailable.

One of its key features is its ability to inspect and investigate narrow or hazardous spaces that are difficult for humans to access, such as ceilings, inside pipes, ducts, and underground pits.

Flight Verification Using an Actual Equipment Environment

In this verification test, we utilized the actual equipment environment inside CARRIER PARK to conduct flight tests and filming under conditions similar to a real industrial site.

In addition to testing flights through narrow pathways and dark environments, the team also carried out tracking shots synchronized with moving equipment, demonstrating the drone’s highly flexible filming and inspection capabilities.

The test also highlighted future possibilities for drone utilization in manufacturing environments, including capturing footage from areas difficult for humans to inspect and obtaining wide-angle views of entire facilities.

Inquiries Regarding the Confined Space Inspection Drone “IBIS2”

If you are interested in the confined space inspection drone IBIS2 used in this flight verification, or if you would like to consult about confined-space inspections, dark-area inspections, or improving the efficiency and safety of equipment inspections in manufacturing environments, please contact Hamamatsu Boeki Co., Ltd.
