Driving Dreams Forward Together
The Synergy Between Brothers
– The Source of Our Strength
In many small to medium-sized businesses, business succession between brothers can be challenging. However, at YMG, this relationship has become our strength. With a generational transition, we continue to advance forward.
In 2024, YMG will celebrate its 45th anniversary. Founded by Shigeichi Yamamoto, who built a solid reputation in the field of automation systems featuring robots, gantry loaders, and pallet conveyors, the company is now led by his eldest son, Yuichiro Yamamoto. Together with his younger brother and Executive Director, Naohiro Yamamoto, the two are steering the company forward in perfect harmony.

Vision and Implementation
– Leading from Complementary Roles
President, Yuichiro Yamamoto
“As the successor, I often represent the company publicly, but I couldn’t do this without my brother, Naohiro. My strength lies in creating something new from scratch—building upon existing models and shaping them into something innovative. The permanent exhibition space, Career Park, is one such example. My responsibilities range from organizational and systems development, creating a better working environment, technical proposals for new customers, and engineering work, all to drive the company’s growth as its leader.”
Executive Director, Naohiro Yamamoto
“I focus primarily on production management, supporting departments, and on-site projects. Unlike my brother, who has experience across all departments, I have been dedicated to manufacturing since I joined. As a former factory manager, I specialize in machine production and stay firmly grounded in on-site operations. My role is not in planning but in implementing the plans. I excel at bringing ideas to life.”
The synergy between the brothers—where one envisions and the other implements—is not something imposed but rather a natural alignment of their personalities. This ideal partnership has become one of YMG’s greatest strengths.
Monthly “Management Meetings” for Alignment
Even as brothers, aligning their goals as leaders is essential. Despite their busy schedules, they prioritize time for close collaboration. On the first Wednesday of every month, they hold a “Management Meeting” over a meal, discussing improvements, current challenges, and future plans.
President, Yuichiro Yamamoto
“I often start with abstract ideas, which require fine-tuning to resolve challenges. This meeting allows us to share ideas and discuss their feasibility. I value feedback—if Naohiro’s input isn’t positive, we don’t proceed. I also avoid influencing his opinion by sharing my thoughts first. Instead, I ask for his unfiltered perspective and align our ideas afterward.”
Executive Director, Naohiro Yamamoto
“Even when Yuichiro’s ideas are abstract, I usually understand what he’s getting at. While others might need full explanations, I grasp the concept with minimal input. I also bridge gaps for employees who may not fully understand tasks during execution. Working together for nearly 20 years, there has rarely been any misunderstanding between us.”
The president values constructive feedback that includes alternatives or suggestions, and Naohiro understands the importance of providing such input.

Analyzing Each Other’s Personalities
Despite their three-year age gap, both recall little sibling rivalry from childhood. Yuichiro often invited Naohiro to join in his activities, whether it was sports, music, or new hobbies.
President, Yuichiro Yamamoto
“Naohiro is meticulous and attentive to detail, while I’m more ‘carefree.’ I tend to act first and think later. One book that shaped my perspective is ‘How to Create Jobs That Don’t Exist’ by Jun Miura. It emphasizes finding opportunities in challenges and creating systems—a philosophy I live by.”

Executive Director, Naohiro Yamamoto
“Yuichiro has a thought process unlike mine—he’s incredibly smart. I’m more focused and determined. A song that inspires me is ‘The Strongest Rival’ by Beat Master, an artist from Hamamatsu. It’s about surpassing your reflection in the mirror every day to grow stronger. That message has stayed with me since I was young.”
While their personalities differ, mutual respect and understanding have formed the foundation of their partnership.
Why “Robots That Make People Smile” Is Our Vision
YMG’s products help solve user challenges, such as automation and mass production. This not only benefits customers but also generates revenue that supports employees and their families. In this way, both creators and users are left smiling.
Additionally, YMG hosts programming classes for local elementary and junior high school students. By showcasing the exciting possibilities of the robotics industry, we aim to inspire the next generation and promote greater awareness of industrial robots.

Our Commitment to the Industry
in Higashi-Mikawa
Founded in 1977 by Takao Yamamoto, YMG’s predecessor began with the automation systems business in 1979 under Shigeichi Yamamoto.
President, Yuichiro Yamamoto
“While I’m officially the second-generation president, I consider myself the third-generation engineer. I’ve heard stories about my grandfather from industry leaders, which reminds me of the enduring support this region has provided us.

The manufacturing industry, particularly the conveyor automation niche, is small yet indispensable to modern society. Aichi Prefecture, and especially Higashi-Mikawa, is home to several companies specializing in gantry loaders. Unfortunately, media coverage often highlights struggling factories during economic downturns instead of focusing on the industry’s positive contributions.
Robotics and automation are essential in today’s world, yet the industry remains under-recognized. By providing opportunities for children to learn about this field, such as through programming classes, we aim to inspire interest and encourage future participation.”
For small to medium-sized businesses, business succession can be challenging. However, YMG demonstrates how familial cooperation can ensure stability, growth, and long-term success. By leveraging their combined strengths, YMG will continue to grow and make a positive impact.
