On Tuesday, the 26th, and Wednesday, the 27th of this month, the Toyohashi University of Technology Robocon Club, Toyohashi☆Robocons, performed at the Osaka Expo.
On both days, they appeared at XROBOCON, held at the EXPO Hall “Shine Hat” inside the Osaka Expo.
On the first day, Tuesday the 26th, YMON from the Public Relations Department visited the venue in person, and we are excited to share the highlights with you 🙋🏻‍♀️

XROBOCON was held at the EXPO Hall “Shine Hat” inside the Osaka Expo.
A large screen and a competition field were set up at the venue.
I couldn’t contain my excitement, wondering what we were about to see next 😆

YMON:
I heard this venue has about 1,900seats! It’s such a huge hall !!
I’m feeling a bit nervous…

Four teams participated in XROBOCON. And the match begins!
XROBOCON is a fusion of the virtual and woelds. While robots move in the real world, virtual videos showcasing each team’s unique world view are projected-a completely new type of Robocon competition 👀
Both in the robots and in the virtual world, each team’s personality shone through, and I couldn’t take my eyes off it 😂

YMON:
It was so fun to see the virtual visuals move in sync with the actual robots !!
Even for a Robocon beginner like YMON, the competition was easy to follow 😉

Before moving on to the finals, the Toyohashi University of Technology Robocon Club finally took the stage !
This team, which won second place in this year’s NHK Student Robocon, gave an impressive robot demonstration ✨

The robot showcased this time was the basketball robot used in this year’s competition 🏀
On stage, the robot demonstrated dribbling and shooting.
And… we even got to see a dunk shot by the robot !!
In the second half, there was a free-throw showdown between the robot and audience member who came to wacth XROBOCON 🔥
It was a very special experience, seeing robots up close and even interacting with the Robocon members after the event 🕊️

YMON:
Unlike in a typical Robocon competition, we could see the players’ relaxed expressions too ♪
YMON also wants to try free-throw shouwdown 🔥🔥🔥

Watching Robocon in a special venue like the Osaka Expo, with a different atmosphere than usual, was truly satisfying !
