Over the course of two Sundays, the 14th and 21st of this month, we held the programming contest “Stream Lab” at our company, targeting high school students.

On the day of the event, the following activities took place.

■Day 1

On the first day of Stream Lab, we started with self-introductions.
For Day 1, the supporting instructor was Mr.Hiroyuki Ohno, CEO of ZtoA LLC.

Afterwards, participants practiced the basics to get familiar with operating the robots and programming.
At Stream Lab, lessons were conducted using LEGO® Mindstorms® EV3.
Students learned the basic usage and even practiced running a training course.
Some students were experiencing programming for the first time and initially struggled, but they quickly mastered the basics by helping each other 😮
Once everyone had grasped the key points, Day 1 came to an end.

■Day 2

On Day 2, under the theme “Challenge the Robocon!”, participants tackled missions using the actual course.
The supporting instructor was Mr. Takuya Fujii, CEO of OptTech Co., Ltd.

Using the basics learned on Day 1, participants tackled more challenging missions.
They programming, ran the robots, made corrections, and ran them again-repeating trial and error many times without giving up in order to complete the missions.
Because of this effort, we also saw students celebrating with a first pump when they reached their goals or successfully completed a mission.

Finally, to share what they had learned, the effort they had put in, and how far they had progressed in the missions over the two days, all participants gave presentations of their results.

Over the two days, we hope that participants not only gained programming knowledge, but also learned other valuable skills, such as the importance of repeating trial and error, the sense of accomplishment in completing missions, and the ability to present their results in a short amount of tome.

Thank you to everyone who participated over the two days!
We will continue to support children’s learning together with the Toyohashi community.
